Heart attack
This is how avi helps you with a heart attack
A heart attack Is a acute emergency that requires immediate action. If action is not taken quickly enough, any help comes too late. Medical prevention, such as treatment and early detection of individual risk factors, therefore offers the best protection for your health. These are long-term and effective measures, which are supported by our experienced doctors at all locations.
What is a heart attack?
Heart attack is a specific form of arteriosclerosisthat affects your heart. In this clinical picture, your heart muscle is no longer adequately supplied with blood due to a clogged or occluded vessel. The result: Individual cells and therefore tissue die and the organ fails.
When does arteriosclerosis start?
A heart attack is based on three factors that exist simultaneously diagnosed. These are:
- a lack of supply to the heart muscle
- tissue damage
- The pathological increase in your troponin level detected by laboratory chemistry in your blood
Good to know: Troponin is a protein that is found in heart muscle. If heart muscle cells die, they enter your bloodstream and can be measured in the laboratory.
What are the triggers of a heart attack?
The start of every heart attack is a arteriosclerosis, i.e. a pathological deposit of plaque in your vessels. This deposit is carried away by your blood stream and finally reaches the coronary vessels, which supply your heart muscle and now constrict.
As a result, there is an inflammatory reaction in the form of an accumulation of blood platelets in the small vessels. However, these cause the coronary vessels to narrow even further.
The result: The vessels are finally completely closed and can no longer supply the heart muscle with blood. Heart muscle cells die irreversibly and scars form.
What are the possible causes of a heart attack?
You can recognize a heart attack using the following typical symptoms:
- reduced physical resilience
- sudden chest pain (the “stone” on the chest or a feeling of constriction)
- The pain radiates to the left shoulder and arm or to the neck and lower jaw
- sweats/cold sweats
- nausea
- Fear of death
- strong and accelerated heart palpitations
To the atypical symptoms include:
- reduced physical resilience
- Especially for women and older people: pain radiating to the right half of the body and back
- weariness
- Especially for diabetics: shortness of breath as the only symptom
The treatment of a heart attack at avi
A heart attack usually occurs suddenly (for example at night or at work) and requires a combination of two factors for successful treatment. These are: rapid diagnosis and immediate treatment. In the worst case, our experienced doctors at avi will help you as a patient as a first step with one of these two therapies:
- In case of rapid hospitalization: implantation of a stent. This wire mesh opens the sealed vessels
- Has it been a long time since the infarction: Dissolving the blood clot with medication (e.g. with heparin)
And since comprehensive aftercare is essential for a complete recovery, we at avi are of course also available to you in this area in our practices. This includes:
- the consistent (medicamentous) cessation of your blood coagulation. How to avoid re-storage of platelets on coronary vessels or stents
- Help with adjusting blood pressure and blood lipid levels and a medical guide to prevent heart rhythm disturbances
- regular physical examinations such as laboratory and apparatus (ECG, ultrasonography) checks
- advice on your ability to drive
