Heart failure (heart failure)

This is how avi helps you with heart failure

More than ten percent of all people over sixty years of age suffer from heart failure during their lifetime. Those affected often fight the consequences for a long time. Finally, if left untreated, the disease can result in a number of serious complications such as heart rhythm disorders, kidney damage or strokes. However, you can avoid this adverse prognosis with comprehensive therapy — our experienced doctors will assist you at all our locations.

What is heart failure?

The clinical picture of heart failure refers to reduced pumping function of the heart due to age. The consequences: Other organs such as kidneys or stomach can no longer be adequately supplied with blood and are therefore impaired in their work.

In addition, blood gradually builds up in your body - for example in the veins or the lungs. If this condition remains unchanged, the liquid portions of the blood finally reach the surrounding tissue. This sometimes causes painful oedema such as gravity-related water retention in the legs.

When does heart failure start?

Heart failure is diagnosed by an ultrasound enlargement of the heart muscle. The diseased organ thus tries to compensate for its reduced pumping capacity. Depending on which heart chamber is affected, a diagnosis is referred to as left, right or global insufficiency. Heart failure is still divided into different stages, which are based on the frequency of your symptoms (i.e. they occur at rest or only during exercise).

What are the causes of heart failure?

The development of heart failure can be triggered by a variety of other symptoms. These include:

What are the possible symptoms of heart failure?

Heart failure can be identified using the following typical symptoms:

  • reduced physical resilience
  • Nocturnal urge to urinate (caused by water retention in the tissue, which is excreted by the kidneys at night)
  • severe palpitations up to heart rhythm disturbances

One left ventricular failure is also characterized by the following specific symptoms:

  • cognitive impairment
  • kidney damage
  • difficult or accelerated breathing (caused by a buildup of fluid in the lungs)
  • whiteness
  • coughing attacks

One Right ventricular failure is characterized by the following particular symptoms:

  • leg edema
  • liver damage
  • Stomach damage

Good to know: In most cases, the clinical picture of heart failure combines symptoms from both sides of the heart.
